B.Vicknasingam is currently Director and Professor of Addictions at the Centre for Drug Research, Universiti Sains Malaysia. His area of expertise is in behavioural aspects of drug users. His area of research is in understanding high risk behaviours of injecting drug users, developing and testing psychosocial interventions for drug users undergoing treatment and understanding barriers related to treatment of drug users. He has been a principal investigator on several internationally funded studies.
He has been invited on several occasions as a visiting scholar to Yale School of Medicine. Currently, member, Scientifc Advisory Committee of the World Drug Report, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Vienna, Austria. In 2014 the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) USA presented the Award of Excellence in International Collaborative Research to him for his collaborative research work with Yale University.
