M.J. Menendez is the Heroin / Fentanyl Projects Coordinator for the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF). Ms. Menendez earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Colorado in 1991, and is currently on detail to OCDETF from the United States Attorney’s Office in Colorado where she has served for twelve years. Ms. Menendez has also served as a state District Court Judge in Colorado and a long-time state court prosecutor. Ms. Menendez currently serves on the National Institute of Justice’s Medicolegal Death Investigation working group where she chairs the subcommittee on forensic Pathology and Toxicolgy workforce shortages. She received the President’s Award for Distinguished Service from the National Association of Medical Examiners in October, 2018, an organization of which she is a member. Ms. Menendez is also a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences.
